Gist overview and symptoms

Gist disease is considered to be the most hazardous and life threatening medical problem. Continuous research and studies are carried out in this particular field of medical problem and these advancements and researches have made the diagnosing and treatment of this particular problem quite effective and rewarding. There are various types of cancers that any individual can ever suffer from including: lung cancer, breast cancer, thyroid cancer, prostate cancer, gist and many more. These all cancers are classified according to the physical portion they affect like gist is an acronym for Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor. This is a type of cancer that belongs to soft tissue sarcomas cancer. This type of cancer can happen in nerves, muscles, blood vessels, fat, cartilage etc. There are various symptoms that any individual suffering from gist may experience like:
Abdominal pain or discomfort
Presence of blatant abdominal mass
Feeling of abdominal fullness and many more such symptoms are very common with gist sufferers. 
The diagnosis technique that is used to detect the presence of gist includes biopsy. One of the major concerns with gist is that it is discovered when it becomes quite larger in size. In general, cancer is treated with chemotherapy but this method of treating cancer is very painful and it has various side-effects. But, with the advancement in science, various other techniques are now invented like medicines and drugs etc. And one such drug used to treat gist include Gleevec. This drug has fewer side effects and is quite effective.
